These are our current sanctuary pigs, some are available for adoption but they are either older pigs or have some special needs that require extra care.

Mama and the Beaver Boys

All an unusual color, all with unusual coats, an abandoned family of mom, two girls and three boys, came to Cavy Care Inc over a year ago. Created by their former human family they where no longer wanted by these same people. This family of six, five of which has a congenital defect of not making any tears has to have drops twice a day. A nicer family you could not ask for. The daughters came in with a skin condition that did not effect anyone but them. After a long treatment one daughter sir come to her illness and had to be put to sleep. The other we were able to save. Living with her mom and her brothers next door we continued their care. Then the daughter passed away in the night. But mom was left alone. So placing her with the saloon girls she has found friendship but being an older girl will more then likely not be adoptable. Her sons, products of "line breeding" where a sibling is bred with another sibling or a parent will more then likely not be adoptable due to the attention required for their eyes. Another reason to not breed for any reason. Imagine living your life with out the ability to make tears.

Sherlock

A lover, a sweet heart but blind in one eye, he can have an on going nasal issue that requires occasional predisone treatments to shrink membranes to allow him to breath. Stressed by being housed with another dominate male, he lives alone and is fine with his condition but it will flare up when he is housed with another. Because of his age of 4 plus he has a cataract in one eye that limits his sight and that is why he is also housed alone so that others can not "sneak up on him". It has greatly improved his condition. He is a lover, but because he has limited sight an occasional nasal issue he more then likely will not be adopted.

Tonka and Ox

Tonka and Ox are brothers but they had to be split up due to fighting. They are both sweet hearts on their own but because of their age of 4 plus they will more then likely not be adopted unless someone want to have older piggies. They are very sweet otherwise with no medical issues. They have to live separate, one has a bit of a rats tail in hair on his back that is the ONLY way to tell them apart. They would like a forever home but the future is dim for them.

Gonzo

Gonzo, is a very nice fellow. He loves people, he loves baby males when they have left their mom. He shows them the ropes and readies them for the next step in life, people. He is a good volunteer for Cavy Care Inc., despite the fact he has inoperable cancer. His time will be shorter then most pigs and honestly he will never be considered for adoption due to the cancer but his story should be told none the less. He deserves support and love during this time as he has given so much back. He is a hard working guinea pig taking his job seriously and is anxiously awaits the next batch of surrendered piggies to take them under his wing and mother them for the next step in life.

Waldo

Waldo, a show piggie. He likes to be told he is handsome. He is a texel, black and white. He has lovely locks of hair which drape him in curls. He is five years old. Dropped two many times in his former home and showed to death he hates people and has little use for them. He loves to live undisturbed in his own home. Unchallenged by roommates and only handled when necessary he has back issues that cause him undue pain. He will never be adoptable because he bites and bites hard for good reason. We will respect his wishes and admire him from afar but he will remain one of our sanctuary guinea pigs living his life as HE wishes.

Skidmark, Rene and Bob

Skidmark, Bob and the french Renee have come to CCI as permanent sanctuary members. Their former owner "Scott" is very ill and can not care for them anymore. Not from a lack of caring but from a failure of the body not the heart. Well cared for, Scott checks to see how their are doing while battling his own illness. They are sweet and gentle guinea pigs and will never be up for adoption but part of our permanent guinea pig family of Cavy Care Inc's sanctuary family. Scott does not have to worry they will be here for his visits and when ever he needs their little light to illuminate his life. He can continue his fight knowing they are safe in our care.

Fudge

Fudge, he is a Rex or Teddy Bear. Black and white he is about seven years old. He likes to live as a single, feeling threatened by others he does not like to share his home with other guinea pigs so don't try to make him. He loves floor time, pushing objects with his nose and visiting with his neighbor guinea pigs. But at the end of the day he would like to go home to his cage alone. He would love to have a home of his own, who wouldn't, one to be loved and spoiled instead of sent away when the mood no longer strikes lke the former owner. They don't understand. One day they have spent all their life in one spot with the same faces and now nobody he recognizes, in a home he doesn't know. It's funny how we will ask animals to make changes that we ourselves would find difficult to overcome as humans. But they keep on trucking despite what may have happened. They have to move on.

Rainman and Fitch

Rainman & Fitch, Rainman a lonely, older guinea pig, suffering from permanent head tilt, found his way to the shelter. His eye sight is fifty fifty and it is not known what his real age is but he makes his way through life as best he can waking up everyday with the hopes for a future. Finding a companion in another small male guinea pig also left to our care... they are a close pair. Sleeping together, playing together, being together. They hit it off from day one, the little fellow and he. Adoptable the little fellow and he are not going anywhere with out each other. Rainman is seven his buddy Fitch is about six months. Ditched a few months ago he has settled in nicely with the shelter family. He does not have to worry we will love him until he is loved by another who will keep him and love him for the rest of his natural life. Rainman is quiet but hopefully happy.
